An infant or baby is the very young offspring of humans. A newborn is an infant who is within hours, days, or up to a few weeks from birth. In medical contexts, newborn or neonate (from Latin, neonatus, newborn) refers to an infant in the first 28 days of life (from birth up to 4 weeks after birth, less than a month old). The term "newborn" includes premature infants, postmature infants and full term newborns. The term infant is derived from the Latin word infans, meaning "unable to speak" or "speechless." It is typically applied to children between the ages of 1 month and 12 months; however, definitions vary between birth and 3 years of age. Asked by fishyface00 - Mon Feb 25 18:41:09 2008 - Fish - 5 Answers - 1 Comments A. it depends i don't know exactly but mine seem to have between 5-10 each and only about half of them live for the best results you need a breeder nursery you can find them on-line that have a air powered filter for really cheap or you can go to wal-mart and get a net breeder (the same thing but without the filter) for 3.99 and put the mother in there and as soon as you see the little babies get the mom out or she will eat them! then they will have to stay in there for a month or so till they are big enuf to be with the big fish and yes there live and really small so be careful with them. good luck.
