Babies Bottom Answers

I have a blue tetra that is laying on bottom alot does that mean she is ready to have her babies??
Q. Do i need to put her in a different tank??? are the other's going to eat her babies?...one more thing do they lay eggs or live birth? thanks
Asked by Misti - Fri Jan 18 09:50:16 2008 - Fish - 2 Answers - Comments

A. Tetra's are egg scatterers. Is she laying on her side, or upright? I do not believe that is normal behavior, even when they are laying eggs. Are the water parameters in your tank ok?

Do all babies have under-bite when they only have bottom teeth ?
Q. My daughter is 9 months & only has her 2 bottom teeth . They sit out farther than her top gums . I just wonder if all babies have this or if it means that she'll grow up to have under-bite .
Asked by Julia - Mon Jul 25 17:49:04 2011 - Dental - 1 Answers - Comments

A. She is probably normal. If you close your mouth, your molars come together and the top front teeth are in front of the the middle front teeth. When people smile they have to push the jaw forward. If her upper teeth rested on her gums, that would irritate or cut them.

My daughters bottom teeth are growing in behind her baby teeth not under like normal. What do I do?
Q. She has little features and I worry that this will be a constant problem that we will fight with. What can I look forward too. Its the first of her teeth to actually grow in, and the bottom two baby teeth are not loose at all.

A. The dentist will probably pull the babies out. I'm sure she will probably need braces in the future. My son had "extra" baby teeth that came in and displaced some of his other baby teeth. The dentist pulled them. He now needs braces because some of the teeth caused "spacing" issues. :-(

I found something abnormal about my babies bottom today.?
Q. I am a brand new nervous father. I had a little baby girl two weeks ago, thankfully everything is healthy. I was changing her nappy today when I noticed something abnormal about her anatomy. The crack of her bottom is in two parts. It starts like normal and then in the middle of her bum it is sealed then the crack carries on. To explain a little further she has a normal crack like everyone else just that it is sealed in the middle. I am sorry to be so graphic, but I am a little worried and have little experience in paediatrics. If you need any more details please ask and check back on this question as i really need an answer.

A. This should have been noted by the Pediatrician if it was a concern, and discussed with you. Since that isn't the case, you need to call it to the doctor's attention at the next regular visit. This could just be normal and you are not used to seeing this, or be a skin deformity, or it could be associated with other conditions such as pilonidal dimple or even spina bifida occulta (unlikely). You can google those to get more info, but neither may be present in your daughter's case. You need the doctor to diagnose this.

Worm in babies bottom?
Q. I just changed my 13 month old's diaper and pulled what looked like a flat worm out of his bottom. It wasn't moving and is about 2 inches long, doesn't appear to have a head or anything and could pass for just a string type thing my baby somehow swallowed but I think I'm just kidding myself! We are taking him to the doctor's but just wanted to ask beforehand if any other parents had found something similar.
Asked by favershambles - Mon Jul 6 10:02:40 2009 - Newborn & Baby - 6 Answers - Comments

A. Relax. If it wasn't something he swallowed then it sounds like worms, which are very common with children, especially around that age when everything goes in their mouths. You probably don't even have to go to the doctors as there are remedies available direct from your chemist. One spoonful of medicine and wash your son's bed linen on a hot wash and in no time your child will be worm-free. Just remember that you will probably have to treat all members in the household as well as washing everyone's bedlinen and using towels just once etc.. to prevent reinfection. This is because threadworm eggs are more or less dust sized and it only takes one to get in your gut to get infected again. Good luck

Yeast rash on babies bottom?
Q. What is the difference from a yeast rash and a standard diaper rash? Also, is there an over the counter topical cream that can be used to treat it?
Asked by Goalie Geetar Grl - Wed Dec 3 07:57:07 2008 - Newborn & Baby - 4 Answers - Comments

A. Both my girls go crazy rashes, and you know what stopped it, not using baby wipes. I even used unscented newborn extra sensitive wipes. Someone I know recommended that I just hold her little bottom under running water to cleanse, then use a paper towel to pat dry. Keeping her diaper changed frequently, along with using caldesene powder (pink bottle) instead of baby powder kept it away. It was amazing how fast it went away. The Caldesene costs a lot more than baby powder, but you don't have to use as much. This really worked, and if I could show you pics of the crazy rash it got rid of, you would believe me.

my platy had babies, and now is resting on the bottom of my tank?
Q. My red platy had babies a few days ago, and has been exhibiting strange behavior. It appears as though it is sleeping, although it does change resting places. I am wondering if this shows it is under ammonia stress, because I was told I had high levels, but thought it was now under control. Is it possible she just needs some rest after giving birth? Any information is appreciated.
Asked by LILLY - Fri Jul 22 00:37:30 2011 - Fish - 3 Answers - Comments

A. check the ammonia levels. it's possible.. I don't THINK giving birth is supposed to be that hard for fish, but I could be wrong. either way better safe than sorry. congrats and I hope she'll be okay ^-^; check for other off signs too, it would make it easier for us to see what's wrong ^-^ the answer below me has good suggestions ^-^ I wouldn't use tablets though... ammonia usually isn;t in the water, it forms in it after it's added to the tank because of the fish's waste. you need to remedy the cause of the ammonia, not the ammonia itself, to properly and most healthily take care of your fish. if you change the tank properly and there's still lots of ammonia, check the ammonia in the source water. if there's ammonia in the source water… [cont.]

A. i had the same thing happen to my daughter butt. i found that using wet cotton balls as wipes was a pain but didn't hurt her sensitive butt. also my ped told me that i should not use a paste on a rash because it traps in moisture and that i should air her out then put medicated baby powder on her rash and in her diaper so that when she does go it absorbs more quickly into the excess powder in the diaper. by doing all this her rash was completely going in a week in a half. hope i helped good luck!!!

Why are my Elctric Blue Jack Depsey Babies laying at the bottom of the tank?
Q. I have six baby electric blue jack dempsey babies. they are healthy but it concerns me that they lie at the bottom of the tank unless it's feeding time. i have done partial water changes and the chemistry is ok. i have seen this with goldfish and bettas. but never with my jack dempsey's. any thoughts??
Asked by John - Fri Jun 25 21:43:49 2010 - Fish - 2 Answers - Comments

A. My fry have always rested on the bottom a lot, especially when young. They have brief spurts of energy and swim around (like at feeding time) but the majority of the time they are resting. I think we see this in just about all species of vertebrates, since I certainly see it in people and horses as well.

Babies bottom teeth are crooked?
Q. My 9 month old sons two bottom teeth came in crooked. I'm not really concerned because they are just "baby teeth," but I wasn't sure if maybe this would affect how his adult teeth came in. He has a 9 month check up on the 27th and I plan on bringing this up to the doctor then. Just curious if this is common or not.

A. My sons teeth came in like this also, but my sister who is a dental nurse assured me that it is very common and does not neccessarilly mean that their big teeth will come in the same. Try not to worry, aslong as their clean and healthy, everything will be fine :)

A. First off are you sure you have a male and female? Oscars are what we call monomorphic, meaning that male and female look the same. This means that you can't go to a shop and choose a male and a female like you can with other species of fish. Contrary to a few people's belief, you cannot tell the sex of an Oscar by the shape of its fins, the length of its body, or even it is colouring. You will normally only know the sex of your Oscars when they start laying eggs. The females egg tube is ovall in the shape, not unlike the pointed end of an egg. The males sexual organ is pointed and looks rather like a thorn. Oscars won't be sexually mature until they are at least 7 inches. Timewise it could be between 12 and 18 months. Oscars prefer to lay… [cont.]

Why my baby bottom gets diaper rash cream accumulation?
Q. Our 1 week old baby has diaper rash and we're using balmex/desitin. It seems to be working, but since we started applying the cream. We noticed that a little bit accumulates from chance to change taking a yellowish color due to her stool very close to her anus. Is that normal? What should we do?
Asked by leosargento - Fri May 8 08:04:19 2009 - Newborn & Baby - 3 Answers - Comments

A. You will get cream accumulating no matter what you use. Just try to use it sparingly.

How long do you air your babies bottom out (just for moms question)?
Q. I've been airing my little girl's bottom for about 10 minutes everyday because I know it's bad for her skin and hygeine to have her in a diaper 24/7. Should I do this 10 minutes a few times a day or is once good enough? What do you do moms? I'm sorry Neil! I just figured moms would be more inclined to answer this question. My husband never changes our daughter's diaper but I shouldn't think all dads are like that. Dads opinions are welcome too. :)
Asked by Bluebird - Sun Dec 28 23:42:11 2008 - Newborn & Baby - 6 Answers - Comments

A. I do it a few times during the day. I put her on a towel with no diaper and just let her air her bottom out. It's got to be better than be constricted. To answer your question do it when you have time during the day. I always use sensitive Pamper wipes without fragrance and do not put anything heavy or oily on her bum. I think that also helps.

Is it okay if babies' top two teeth come in with only one bottom tooth?
Q. My baby got her first tooth on the bottom. Now the top two are coming in, but there is no sign the other bottom one. Should I be concerned? She is just over 8 months old.
Asked by jurassicbeaver - Tue Jul 1 23:38:34 2008 - Newborn & Baby - 9 Answers - Comments

A. No do not worry about it. My daughter is 9 months old and she has be two bottom teeth. She started getting them at 8 months, but only got one bottom one. The top teeth are starting to cut through and her other bottom one just popped through not long ago. Babies get their teeth at different times. Some babies will cut their molars before their k9 teeth, etc. Babies usually get their teeth around 4 or 5 months and cut them slowly or get them at 8 or 9 months and seem to cut them quicker (because they got a late start) and cut time all at once. Good luck and dont fret over it!!!
